1. St. George's Hospital in Tooting, England. Considered one of the largest teaching hospitals in the UK, St. George's Hospital shares a main facility with the well-known St. George's University of London.

A member of the National Health Service, St. George's was founded in 1733, and offers a variety of services—from maternity and trauma care to neurology, renal transplantation and cardiac care. This hospital has about 1,000 beds and boasts of having one of four major trauma centers and one of eight hyper-acute stroke units in London.

Considered the largest orthopaedic hospital in the UK, the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital provides patients with various musculoskeletal healthcare. This hospital is also one of the best teaching facilities for orthopaedic surgeons in the UK, with more than 20% of all orthopaedic surgeons receiving training for RNOH.

10. Whiston Hospital at Presscot, Merseyside. One of the largest hospitals in the UK hasn't been completed yet. With decades of history behind it (the original structure was built in 1843 as a Victorian work house for the poor), the Whiston Hospital is undergoing a complete makeover. It is set to be completed in 2011, with a floor area of 75,000 square meters.
