Rowdy Rathore is the kind of movie that's made by people with a cash
register in place of their brain. Because no legitimate reason, other
than financial gain, can justify why this movie was made – it has no
story or plot whatsoever.
The characters are entirely forgettable, and it's so long and loud and silly that the laughs dry up early on. That the film has such impressive pedigree – it's produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, directed by Prabhudeva, and stars Akshay Kumar – is both baffling and shameful.

Rowdy Rathore is Akshay Kumar’s show all the way. Sonakshi Sinha doesn’t get much scope for performance and Nasser is every bit vile he’s supposed to be. The film’s music is a mixed bag, but you’ll enjoy watching ‘Chinta Ta Ta Chita’, particularly a leg-breaking cameo by Prabhu Deva. Alas, he’s not half as good with direction.

Pulling out all stops to give us a spicy meal, Prabhu Deva succeeds in putting a dizzying spin into Akshay's double-role act. Twirling his moustache in Rajputana pride, romancing the spirited small-town chick or beating up 23 goons with one weapon (self-determination), Akshay delivers a performance that makes you want to jump out of your seat, clapping, whistling and cheering in appreciation.

Performance-wise, Yashpal Sharma as a long-suffering cop is convincing. Sonakshi Sinha is majorly spunky but almost disappears like Aladdin’t genie in the second-half. She is sorely missed till she reappears for the finale’s hi-jinks. In the twin role, Akshay Kumar frequently shot in mammoth close-ups, is likeable as the Uptight Cop. In the comic portions, any more said the worse.Bottomwhine: Rowdy Rathore leaves you exhausted, as if you’d come out of a war zone. Recuperate in peace.

What could have been a whistle-blowing fun ride ends up being a half-baked dish. If you are a Prabhu Deva fan, you will be disappointed. If you are an Akshay fan, you might just end up cheering the loudest for him. Watch this if you are in a mood for some mindless, time pass entertainment this weekend.

Box Office News for Rowdy Rathore
On the contrary to critics review, Rowdy Rathore has broken Akshay Kumar's personal box office record. The
action film, which released to packed cinemas across India, has
registered the biggest opening weekend collections of Kumar's
two-decade-long career, Hindustan Times reports.
The Akshay Kumar-Sonakshi Sinha-starrer Rowdy Rathore (RR) may make its place in the Rs. 100
crore club in the coming weekends, according to trade expert Komal
Nahta. He says, “Single-screen cinemas are going berserk over RR. It’s a
straight blockbuster.”
